Betty Jane Benoit

Betty Jane Benoit, a cherished soul who left an indelible mark on the hearts of her loved ones, passed away on March 16, 2025, at the age of 85 in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on February 18,1940, in New Iberia, Louisiana, Betty lived a life brimming with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.

As a devoted housewife, Betty poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home. She was known for her passion for gardening, where she found joy in nurturing plants and flowers, much like how she nurtured her family and friendships. Betty had a special talent for bringing people together, often enjoying heartwarming conversations over coffee with family and friends. Her kindness and gentle spirit touched many, leaving behind countless fond memories.

Betty is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Lona Benoit and Kathy Benoit, both residing in Port Arthur. She was a proud grandmother to her six grandchildren, O'Neil Benoit, Justin Boyd, Chris Webb, Jennifer Boyd, Joshua Boyd, and Alli Rose, who all carry her legacy forward with every smile and cherished memory.

Betty is also survived by her dear sisters, Susie Smith of Port Arthur and Diane McGee of Bay City, who will forever hold onto her spirit in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Benoit; her parents, Raul and Rita Romero; and her sister, Jennet Sonnier, all of whom now welcome her with open arms in the eternal embrace of love.

A visitation will be held on March 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors, located at 5200 W. Parkway in Groves, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, concluding with her burial at Memory Gardens in Nederland, Texas, at 3:00 PM.

Betty Jane Benoit will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy of warmth, compassion, and connection to nature will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lona and Kathy, I send my deepest sympathy to both of you and your family. Last time I saw Aunt Betty was for Uncle Andy’s funeral. I fond memories as a child going to y’all house. I know she will be greatly missed by all that knew her. I pray that the love, memories and family will give you comfort. She is rest now, no sickness and no pain. Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
