Wayde Hanley

Wayde Hanley, a devoted family man and respected tradesman, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in Groves, Texas. Born on November 23, 1958, in Port Arthur, Texas, Wayde was a kind-hearted and gentle giant whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Whether you knew him as Buster, Daddy, Daddo, Pawpaw, WooWoo, Uncle Wayde, Little Brother or Love of my Life, you knew a man you loved deeply and was loved even more in return.

Wayde dedicated much of his life to his career in construction, where he worked as an insulator, pipe fitter, supervisor, and eventually project planner. Known for his remarkable skills and unwavering work ethic, he was a hard worker who could fix anything and sacrificed greatly for the well-being of his loved ones. His proudest accomplishments lay not only in his professional achievements but also in the steadfast commitment he showed to his family.

A man of generous spirit, Wayde loved hunting and fishing, pursuits that reflected his deep appreciation for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He was also known for his protective nature and his profound love for babies and family, shining as a pillar of strength and tenderness alike. Above all else, he was a man of strong faith who trusted in the Lord throughout his life and now rests in the presence of the Lord.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Connie Darlene Hanley; his devoted mother, Nelwyn Gale Crews-Hanley; his cherished children, daughter Phoebe Hanley and partner Richard, and son Taylor Hanley along with his wife Victoria; and his treasured grandchildren, James and Jensen Hanley. Wayde is also lovingly remembered by his brother Mitch Hanley and his wife Joni, and his sister Sheree Hanley. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Hanley.

Services to honor the life of Wayde Hanley will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, located at 5200 West Parkway Street, Groves, Texas 77619. Visitation is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, followed immediately by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m.

Wayde’s legacy is one of kindness, diligence, and heartfelt devotion—a true gentle giant whose memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him. His absence leaves an indelible void, yet his spirit endures in the many lives he touched with love and protection. May he rest in peace.
