Arthur Allen Wigley, Jr.

1956 ∼ 2026

Captain Arthur Allen Wigley, Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Sabine Pass, Texas, was born November 10, 1956 in Orange, Texas.

Arthur was known to everyone as “Jr.” He came to Sabine Pass on the back of an old pickup truck driven by his dad, and Sabine Pass became his lifelong home. The community and the sea helped shape the man he became. He loved shrimping and earned his 500-ton Master Inland license at the age of 53.

Jr. attended Sabine Pass School and later earned his GED. He loved his home in Sabine Pass, where he and his wife, Tina, built a warm and welcoming place for family and friends. They were proud of everything they built together. Jr. loved gathering people around crawfish boils, Christmas celebrations, and Thanksgiving meals.

He supported his community, especially during times of disaster. Jr. was a determined man and truly a rare person, he had many skills that made him what people often called a “jack of all trades.” If something was broken, Jr. could always take it apart and put it back together again. He loved building, fixing things, and seeing the results of his hard work.

Jr. was always there when family, friends, or neighbors were in need. No one went without when he was around, as he freely offered his time, strength, and skills. He loved riding his tractor and bush-hogging the land. One of his dreams was to restore his own shrimp boat. At heart and soul, Jr. was always a seaman.

Jr. loved old country music and never missed a chance to dance. He was smooth on his feet and loved dancing with everyone. Tina would often say that he shared his special “talent” and love of dancing with anyone willing to join him.

His last job was with Devall Towing, where he was respected and admired for his professionalism, knowledge, and most of all his kindness in training and helping his fellow crew members. His strength and integrity will be greatly missed. His smile and laughter will remain in the memories of all who knew him.

Jr. will forever be remembered and loved. One of his favorite sayings was “bad to the bone,” and those who knew him best know that he truly was and always will be “bad to the bone.” His love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He was welcomed into heaven by his mother, Florence Clara Wigley; his father, Arthur Allen Wigley, Sr.; his son, Arthur A. Wigley III (“Bucky”); and his sister, Evelyn Marie Ienna Wigley. His brother in law Frank Gross

He is survived by his loving wife, Tina Marie Wigley; his grandchildren Rayvn Wigley, Landyn Wigley Sadie Wigley and Chrislyn LaFauci. He is also survived by his sisters, Debi Wigley and Barbara Gross his daughters Tabitha McCray and Haley Hill and her husband Jared Hill. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews Mikayla Wigley, Steven Wigley and wife Bekha, Morgan Cornett and husband John Daniel, Owen Gross and his Wife Nikki, Clint Haycraft Jr., Stacey Swift and her husband, Troy Weyerstrass, and Tiffany Haycraft. Also his great nieces and nephews Kylie Wigley, Addison Wigley, Nathaniel Wigley, Lyra Gross, Keegan, Ethan, and Logan.

Jr.’s life touched many friends and family members, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the stories, laughter, and love he shared with everyone around him.

Jr. was a jokester, a runner, a shrimper, a Captain (inland) and I love him very much. He was always playing jokes on us as my sister Barbara said about the bullfrogs in our bed; but she left out that after that he continued to put lizards under bathroom door to scare me! Then we were playing under the water faucet seeing whose bottle could be filled faster and up came his bottle and chipped my tooth. We found the chip and quietly went into bathroom to fix it. We were trying to glue it back with Elmers glue. Mom finally hollered and ask, "what are ya'll doing in there". We confessed and opened the door, she looked at the tooth and said go play. She told dad later only to have a laugh. Another time we started a fight (fist) in the house one day and we were going at it ... rolled out the front door, on the porch, small steps and then to the ground. About that time mom came home from her weekly grocery shopping with Mrs. Pat Hughes. They both were trying to get us apart. That didn't happen but a minute or so later we just stopped and laughed so hard. We could not remember why we were fighting! Jr was a runner as I said as he ran everywhere, that's why he was a good running back in school (Sabine Pass High) but mostly running away from mom when he was in trouble. We had blackberry bushes across the street, and he would forever go there and pick the best for mom ... but he was running as he picked as she could always see his red 'cap' above the bushes. Jr. also loved Mrs. Katherina Adkins pinto beans. She would always send him home with a pint jar of them. Although that gift did stop for a while as Glenda Adkins and him playing with matches burnt her garden down to ashes .... trouble followed! As far as boats go, he loved to captain his dad's red (indoor/outdoor) shrimping boat to take us water skiing in the Gulf. I believe Asa Moody learned how to ski on one ski with Jr. He did love to go shrimping with his dad on that red boat. We were friends with the Fairchilds as well and as Champ Fairchild was the captain of the snapper boat at Sabine, he was always giving my sister (Barbara) and Jr the pick of the litter so to speak... they always got the big one. He then had earned enough money from working with this mentor (one of them) Bo Swan and bought his first go-cart and the big red snapper was always hitching a ride home to mom to cook up some mouthwatering fried snapper. It was a fixer too. I was in his room, and he just got a toy for Christmas, and I ask "what did you do"; for he had taken it all apart. He said, "well I got to know how it runs/works", but it'll be back together in no time. Once with Evelyn, he told her she was the biggest butterfly he has ever seen. She was going to the prom and had on the loudest colored orange/yellow dress. She got a kick out of it. He was simple man; the truth is all he understood and lived by. A sister losing a brother is a deeply personal and painful experience. My brother was a protector, lifelong friend, and someone who I shared childhood memories and family bonds that no one else fully understands. Since he is gone, I feel emptiness where laughter, teasing and support once lived. The loss is an overwhelming grief, memories of the past and a longing for the moments that will never come again. Even as time passes the love and connection remain and I will carry my brother's memory in my heart for the rest of my life. Captain Wigley make sure God gives you the best boat in the heavens as I know he knows your talent! I forever will miss you, but you will always be by my side.

My brother had a great sense of humor… always pulling jokes on us growing up… like putting bullfrogs in our bed to wake us up in the morning. He and daddy would get a kick out of that. He also tied up the screen doors so we couldn’t get to the school bus one morning. Coach Medina, our bus driver then, had a few laughs on that one. Most of all he cared for each of his sisters and protected us as a brother would. God knows how much we were blessed and how much everyone who knew him will miss him! May he rest in peace and eternal light shine upon him! 💕🙏🏻

such a good person & helped everyone. Example: When Jimbo Rouse( my son's father) drown in Louisiana, Junior helped Jeff Rouse( my son) get Jimbo's shrimp boat back to Port Bolivar so Jeff could sale for his step sisters, even though girls inherited the boat themselves. So they both went to much trouble , lost work, to do this for step daughters of Jimbo. They had to repair it also. Could not have done without Juniors help. As you said he helped every one & could do anything. He loved his family. Prayers for his heart broken family.
