Anthony L. Romero

1949 ∼ 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Anthony L. Romero, a beloved Tug Boat Captain with Amerita Hess. Anthony was born on January 1, 1949, in Port Arthur, Texas, and departed this life on February 24, 2026, in Orange, Texas. He was a man of many talents and a cherished presence in the lives of his family and friends.

Anthony dedicated his career to the sea, navigating the waters with skill and determination as a Tug Boat Captain. His work was not just a job; it was a testament to his steadfast nature and his love for the maritime world. Throughout his life, Anthony found joy in fishing, delighting in cookouts, and fostering strong connections within his church and community. He always valued time spent with family and friends, which were at the heart of his existence.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane Romero, with whom he shared a remarkable partnership for 60 years. Their enduring love was a testament to the power of commitment and companionship. Anthony's legacy continues through his children: daughter Rena De La Rosa, who is married to John, and son Anthony Lee Romero Jr., who is engaged to Christine.

Anthony was also a proud grandfather, witnessing the growth and achievements of his grandchildren: Amanda Lindenschmidt, married to Timothy; Valerie Fleming, married to Steven; Farron Falcon, engaged to Carrissa; Angel Marie Clay, married to Mitch; and Allie Irene Romero, engaged to Kaleb Jones. Adding to his legacy are seven great-grandchildren who will carry forward the love and values he instilled in his family.

He is also survived by his sisters, Uthea Ann Romero and Cheryl Ann Robinson, who remember him fondly. Anthony was predeceased by his beloved parents, Travis Roger Romero and Rena Edmond Romero, his cherished daughter, Toni Marie Romero, and his 3 brothers: Rodney Edsel Romero, Larry James Romero, and Ernest Joseph Romero.

The visitation for Anthony L. Romero will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, located at 5200 West Parkway Street, Groves, TX, 77619. The funeral service will follow the visitation, starting at 12:00 PM at the same location.

As we gather to honor and celebrate the life of Anthony, we remember a man who deeply cherished his family, his work, and the simple pleasures in life. He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Tony and I go way back to Junior High and High School. It saddens my heart that he has passed away. We caught up with each other when his daughter Toni and my daughter Amber started playing softball together in Groves and both of them were good players and both had an attitude and were friends. As life moved on we stayed in touch on Facebook. I am so happy that God found Tony. May you Rest In Peace my long time friend. You will be missed here on this earth but the Angels are rejoicing Praise God you are home. Tell Carole hi as you two celebrate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
