Anita Fae Simon, 95, died Sunday, April 5, 2020 at home surrounded by family. A native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur, she was born July 12, 1924, to Taylor Arendale and Clara Smith Arendale.

Anita (Nanny) was a wonderful loving wife and mother who loved to cook for family and friends. She fed what she called Hobo’s that were in transit on the trains near her house as well. She spent her life as the caregiver of all who needed her.

Survivors include two sons, Durwyn Simon and wife Tanya, Donald Simon and wife Collette, two daughters, Janis Hart, Prissy Bergeron and husband Jeffery, brother, Delbert Terrier and wife Charlotte. She left a great legacy which includes 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Anita lost the love of her life of 56 years, Preston W. Simon in 1998

She is preceded in death by her brother Delbert Arendale, two sisters Janet Condron, Bobbie Sue Tweedel and her son in law, Thomas Hart

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice and the two wonderful caregivers Vanessa Solomon and Margaret Lofton.

We will have a celebration of life for family and friends at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you send donations to the charity of your choice.

Prissy I just heard about your mother’s passing.  I am so sorry to hear this.  She and my aunt were close friends and she was a big part of the Yarborough family.   She was a wonderful lady who will be missed by many.   You & your family are in my prayers.

Prissy, Tana, Jeff, Janice,  and family;      Mark and I are so saddened to learn of your Mom's passing. We were talking about her a while back because Mark hadn't seen her at the store since his Groves location. Your Mom was an angel way before her entry into Heaven. We all loved her and thought so highly of her loving kindness, attention to details, her Mothering which she shared with all your friends...so special. She will always be one of our favorites! From Hussar memories to life after to lawn mowing and keeping her household growing and going, Anita Simon was amazing, AND that trait was noticed by all who met her. Sending our sincerest condolences and prayers for you all, Beryl & Mark Miller
