Adelina Lopez Aguilar "Nina"

1935 ∼ 2025

Adelina Lopez Aguilar, affectionately known as "Nina," passed away on May 27, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas, just shy of her 90th birthday. Born on June 18, 1935, in Nueva Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico, her journey was marked by a deep commitment to her family and community.

Retiring as a dedicated cafeteria worker for the Port Arthur Independent School District, Nina was well-regarded for her warm spirit and her ability to bring smiles to the faces of those she served. Her work was not merely a job but a reflection of her nurturing nature, and she took great pride in contributing to the nourishment and development of young minds in her community.

Nina’s hobbies included sewing and shopping, activities that highlighted her creative side and her love for fashion. Her hands were often busy crafting beautiful items, which were cherished by her loved ones.

A devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Nina was proud to be involved with the Guadalupanas, a group that exemplified her faith and commitment to service. Her involvement in these organizations was a testament to her dedication to her church and her spiritual life.

She is survived by her son, John Aguilar of Port Arthur; her daughters, Yolanda Barron of Port Arthur, Mary Lugo and husband Eduardo of Beaumont, and Rose Jackson of Port Arthur. Nina was a beloved grandmother to four grandchildren, Lucinna Lugo, Eduardo Lugo Jr., Zoey Jackson, Hailey Jackson, who will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. In addition, she was blessed with close friends Pablo and Irene De La Rosa who shared many joyful moments with her.

Nina is preceded in death by her husband, Santos Silva Aguilar, and her parents, as well as eight siblings. The love and memories shared among family and friends will forever keep her spirit alive in their hearts.

Her lifetime of dedication to her family, faith, and community will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 1:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

I will forever treasure beautiful memories of you. You had a great sense of humor and you were very caring. Thank you for letting me be a part of your Christmases. We had a blast making tamales and wrapping gifts for my cousins. Thank you for taking me to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Rosita during the summer. You were a great aunt and I will miss you, but I know God has better plans for you.Love always, Chayo

My deepest sympathy to John and the family of Ms. Nina. She was a sweet soul and helped us with our big garage sale for Midcounty Paws of Hope. She said it was for the puppies. We were looking forward to her help next year. You will forever be in our hearts Ms Nina.❤️Keep an eye on John and Yolanda. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
