Alton L. Freeman October 7, 1928 - January 22, 2009

Alton L. Freeman of Beaumont, Texas passed away on January 22, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 80. He was born October 7, 1928 to Sadie Goodson Freeman and Rufus Freeman in Oakdale, Louisiana. He was a resident of Groves/Port Neches area for over 72 years. Alton served in the U. S. Navy as a seabee between WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Neches Butane as an instrument technician after 46 years of service. He was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Bridge City. Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Freeman, Lee Shearin, Andrew DeLano, Garrett DeLano, Jamie Andrus, Danny Kirby, Tim Shearin and Jay Chance with Shannon Chance serving as an honorary pallbearer. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Freeman of Beaumont, Texas, his daughters Brenda Shearin and her husband Tim of Orange, Texas, Patty Chance and her husband Jay of Bridge City, Texas, his son Gary Freeman and his wife Debbie of Beaumont, Texas along with his eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Doris Marze and her husband Leamon of Groves, Texas, his brother J. W. Freeman of Groves, Texas as well as several nieces and nephews.
