I worked with Karen for many years at TEC/TWC. She was always smiling and was such a wonderful person. I just found out today what happened. Karen and her beautiful smile will be missed dearly. My prayers are with her family.

Karen was my neighbor from 1990 to right after Ike. We moved to Beaumont. She would come over to my house when she locked herself out of the house to use the phone. We would talk every once in a while and I thought she was always a very nice woman. I am truly sorry for the lost of this innocent wonderful woman who had a lot more to give to her family. I am sure that she will be dearly missed. My prayers are with her family.

All hell could be breaking loose and Karen would be smiling. I know it was because she knew something that most of us don't, and that is life is way too much fun to take so seriously. Routine kept her comfortable. In fact, I believe that it helped her to make peace with the chaos around her - it was something she could control. I have so many fond memories of Karen, but one that stands out was the time we were going to take the kids to Red Cloud Water Park and i volunteered to drive (I knew what a careful a driver Karen was, and I wanted to get to the Silsbee water park before it got dark!) When I went up to her door to get her and Trisha, Karen met me WEARING THE SAME BATHING SUIT I HAD ON! We just fell over in fits of laughter. I'll miss her in so many ways. I certainly won't be able to enter an antique shop without remembering her passion for antique glassware and I won't be able to see a cute ceramic cat and not think that Karen would have loved that. My real regret is that I didn't tell her how much she meant to me.

Karen was the only peson I knew that I could tell the time by what she was doing. If she was folding up the newspaper in the morning it was 8am and time to work, if she was going to lunch it was 11:30 (had lunch with her dad every day), if she was walking out the door in the afternoon it was 5:01. I guess I better buy a watch!!! I will miss Karen and all her cats in her "CUBE" here at work. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
