Solomon "Sol" Arkeen, 77, of Nederland passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur. He was born October 7, 1931 to Alice and Abe Arkeen in Beaumont, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of the Port Arthur area. Sol served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was the Golden Gloves Boxing Champ while in the Army. He was the owner and operator of Arkeen Enterprises, which included Nederland Pawn Shop, Beaumont Window Cleaning, Real Estate holdings. He was a member of Temple Emanuel in Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sara and Celia and brother Morris. He is survived by his loving wife Vickie Douglas Arkeen of Nederland, son Cody Arkeen and wife Courtney of Bridge City along with his first grandchild Paxton Arkeen on the way, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
