Rita Arredondo February 27, 1929 - October 13, 2009

Rita Barbosa Arredondo, 80, of Nederland passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. She was born February 27, 1929 to Angelita Vargas Barbosa and Prajedis Barbosa in Port Arthur, Texas. She has been a lifelong resident of the area. Rita retired from Nederland Independent School District as a food service worker at Nederland High School after 12 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria B. Rodriguez, her brothers Robert, Cruz and Salvador Barbosa. She is survived by her loving husband Gustavo "Gus" Arredondo of Nederland, daughter Tonya Richard and husband Brian of Nederland, son Marty Arredondo and wife Susan of Beaumont, six grandchildren Holly Fornols, Sean Suarez, Larry Gustavo Suarez, Shelby Suarez, Chelsea Owens, Clara Torres and step grandson Justin Richard, six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Rufina B. Rodriguez of Nederland and Mayme B. Wekkin of Klamath Falls, Oregon as well as several nieces and nephews.
