Susanna Marie Vara August 11, 1933 - November 21, 2009

Susanna "Susie" Marie Lopez Vara, 76, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born August 11, 1933 to Basilia DeLaCruz Lopez and Francisco Lopez in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, graduated from St. Mary High School and Port Arthur College. Susie worked as a secretary for Bluestien's for five years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Juanita Saldana and her husband Rodolfo Vara. Susie is survived by her daughters Maria Price of Port Arthur, Juanita Hockett of Groves, Christina Vara of Port Arthur, her son Joseph Vara of Nederland along with six grandchildren Caleb and Kane Vara, Katrina Price, Meagan and Mitch Hockett and Beatrice "Bea-Bea" Ruiz. She is also survived by her brothers Nick and wife Henrietta Lopez of Port Arthur, Francisco, Jr. and wife Erin Lopez of Port Arthur and her brother-in-law Louis Saldana along with several nieces and nephews.
