Steven Edward Young, Sr.

Steven Edward Young, Sr. August 16, 1942 - April 8, 2010

Steven Edward Young went to our Lord Jesus on April 8, 2010 at age 67. Steve was born and raised in Port Arthur. He accepted Jesus as Savior at a young age. Steve sang lead roles in church and school choirs including the Messiah. Steve sang for weddings and funerals. He received a Degree in Music from Lamar University. Steve spent his life entertaining and giving joy from his musical gifts. Steve sang and played virtually any music requested. Steve also wrote and sang his own music. Parts of his songs/poems included: " I wanna make His music! I believe in Jesus Christ my savior. He just don't deceive me, He's coming back to retrieve me" "Take His mercy, take His kindness. Let Him hold you in His arms. Let the Spirit of God be with you, Till His will is done. Until forever comes." He is survived by his son Steve, his daughter Ginny and his brother Derrell. We know the hope we share in Jesus means that we'll see Steve again (I Thessolonians 4: 13-18). In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Heart Association.

Condolences

Sandra Vaughan Merrifield May 17, 2010
My sincerest condolences go to the family and close friends of Steve Young for their loss of his earthly life. I was in high school with Steve, and we were in some classes together. What a pleasant, delightful classmate he was. And how emblazened in my mind were his solo performances with the wonderful Thomas Jefferson High School Choir, led by Jack Bottoms. Steve's rendition of "Ol' Man River" was so beautiful that he made me cry! Steve was appreciated for the beauty and kindness he added to this world. Rest in peace, Steve.
