Gene Joseph Cropper November 1, 1935 - June 8, 2010

Gene Joseph Cropper 74, of Groves, Texas died on Tuesday June 8, 2010. Gene was born on November 1, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Harold and Alberta Daigle Cropper. He was a graduate of Bishop Byrne High School. Gene worked at Texaco for 27 years, and the Jefferson County Sheriff office for 14 years. He enjoyed retirement for the last 12 years. Gene was a person who never met a stranger. He loved visiting his friends and relatives. He knew everyone and everyone knew him. Gene loved to fish and go to the camp. He also loved going to the Casino's. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Barbara Dwyer Cropper of 45 years. He is survived by his current wife Diana Cropper, son Charles and wife Robin, daughters, Sheryl and husband Dale Jackson, Toni and husband Roland Waldrep all of Groves. He is also survived by his step-children, Mark and Kim Loupe, Jan Bryce of Groves and Thomas and Emily Loupe of Austin. Sisters, DeAnna and Husband Dickie Prince and Katherine and husband Murphy DeMarcary both of Groves, Doris and Husband Bobby Simon of Nederland, 8 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
