Elizabeth Ann Turpen March 30, 1956 - October 25, 2010
Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Turpen, age 54 of Port Arthur passed away on October 25, 2010 at her residence. Liz was born in Port Arthur, Texas on March 30. 1956 to Knox and Anna Mary Paine. She graduated from Northwest High School in Justin, Texas in 1974. She lived in Boston, MA until she returned to the Port Arthur area. She attended Lamar University and obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. Liz worked at Promise Specialty Hospital and previously worked at St. Mary and St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, George Michael Turpen and wife Dolores of Beaumont, two grandchildren, Gavin Michael Turpen and Emily Jane Turpen, her sister, Norma Jean Ashmore of Bellare, Texas, niece, Anna Marie Ashmore and nephew, K. C. Ashmore along with Michael's father, George Turpen and wife Barbara of Nederland and Michael's brother, Eric West and wife Kayla and their son Lance all of Nederland.

I will always remember Liz "saving" me when I was assigned to 2 South ICU step-down as a new nurse (floated). I was assigned 4 pt's and three of them had non-working IV's first rattle out of the box. She declared my group a "train-wreck" and immediately pitched in to help me get IV's started. She was a very sweet person.

Especially Michael and all, I can not express how deeply I am hurt by your loss. Not really sure how to express my feeling for your loss. You know Liz was important to Maeve and me many years ago I know she will be sorely missed by all whose lives she has touched.
