William Wilbur Stewts
October 12, 1928 - January 8, 2011
Bill Stewts, 82 of Mauriceville passed away at his residence from a sudden illness. Bill was a resident of Mauriceville for the past 16 years, he was a prior resident of Hemphill for 18 years and Groves for 27 years. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1948. Bill retired from Gulf Oil Corp. after 27 years of service after working in the testing lab for 20 years and the Benzene unit for 7 years. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hemphill. Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict with the 509th Bomb Wing as a Staff Sergeant. Bill is survived by his wife Mary Stewts of Mauriceville, daughters, Mary Ann Gage of Silsbee, Carol and husband Gilson Viator of Austin, Linda and husband Haley Arnold of Bridge City, brother, Malcom Stewts of Nederland and sister, Gladys Carlquist of Port Arthur. Seven grandchildren and Ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Stewts was a good man and has a wonderful family. I have lots of good memories of him & Mrs. Stewts from the good ole days of being a teenager and hanging out at their house and going to their camp in Hemphill.
