Verna Landry August 3, 1929 - January 30, 2011

Verna Harrington Landry, 81, of Groves, Texas passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was born August 3, 1929 to Naomi Omine Harrington and Emanuel Harrington in Abbeville, Louisiana. She lived in the Port Arthur/Groves area for 61 years. Verna worked as a cashier for Market Baskets Stores for 38 years and spent most of her carreer at Store #17 in Port Neches. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Dollins, Brett Harrington, Joe Harrington, Chris Sarver, Willis Trahan and John Segelsky with Kenny Harrington serving as an Honorary Pallbearer. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John W. "Bill" Landry, Sr. and her daughter, Carolyn Thibodeaux. She is survived by her daughter, Florence Dollins of Groves, Texas, her son, John W. Landry, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Groves, Texas, three grandchildren, James Patrick Dollins, Christopher Louis Dollins, Jessica K. Landry and three step grandchildren along with five great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Thelma Nero of Scott, Louisiana, Hilda Hidalgo of Groves, Texas, her brother, Wilton J. Harrington of Groves as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
