Maria Cardenas, 79, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas. She was born on September 3, 1931 to Maria De Los Angels Molina and Emilio Vela Rodriguez in Cerralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She lived in Port Arthur for 18 years, worked as a seamstress in the clothing industry. Maria was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port Arthur. She is survived by her devoted husband, Howard Reed of Port Arthur, Texas, her daughters, Altagracia Maldonado Quiroz Alejandro of San Juan, Texas, Imelda Maldonado Torres, Martha Maldonado Rios and Laura Maldonado Montemayer all of Houston, Texas, Maria De La Luz (Lucy) Cardenas of Spendora, Texas, her sons, Jose Antonio (Tony) Maldonado of Houston, Texas, Jose Angel (Joe) Maldonado of Port Arthur, Texas, Andress (Andy) Maldonado, Luis Cardenas, Jorge (Koki) Rosales all of Houston, Texas, Emilio Lee Reed of Port Arthur, Texas, numerous grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren, her sisters, Ana Vela Molina Borreyo of Laredo, Texas and Rafaela Vela Molina Mercado of Nuevo Laredo, Texas, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters.
