Lillian M. Lackey

Lillian M. Lackey February 27, 1936 - March 4, 2012

Lillian Marie Lackey, 76 of Groves, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at home surrounded by her family after a brave battle with cancer. Lillian was born in Youngsville, Louisiana and has lived the past 52 years in Groves. She was happiest being with her family and worked very hard to provide love and guidance to them, especially since A.T's passing. She was happiest when cooking for a house full of people. Lillian's love and affection touched everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Her personality was almost as rich as her gravy, and you could never miss her in a room. She enjoyed hosting card games, bingo and the occasional trip to the boat. Mrs. Lackey was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, A.T. Lackey and son Brett Lackey, her parents, Maurice and Edia Dore; sisters, Frances Richard, Eula Mae Fitch, Eula Robicheaux; brothers, Junius Dore, Willis Dore and Joseph Dore. She is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Jenkins and her husband Jerry Jenkins of Beaumont, and Shanna Snow of Houston; grandchildren Kandice and Brenton Jenkins; her sister, Inez Arpin of Groves; and numerous extended family members.

Shanna and Brenda, I am so saddened to hear of Lil's passing. Take comfort that you gave her the ultimate in care and love during her illness. I can still remember her feeding me some of her great cooking and telling me I needed to put some meat on my skinny bones. It makes me smile because she'd be proud of me...I certainly have put some meat on my bones over the years. She was such a character and I will remember her lovingly forever. I take comfort knowing she was greeted with open arms by Brett & A.T. I am just so very sorry I am so many miles away and cannot be there for you during this time. You are surrounded by loving family and friends that will help you through this...you are in my thoughts and prayers. Much Love and Sympathy, David Gaspard
