Roland R. Barbosa, Sr. March 1, 1943 - April 19, 2012

Roland R. Barbosa Sr., 69, a lifelong resident of Port Arthur, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012. He was a 1961 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He retired from Total, after 34 years of service. He was also a member of the Groves Knights of Columbus. He was in the Army, the 101st Airborne Division and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a Purple Heart recipient. He is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Simona Barbosa, a daughter Cammy Barbosa, a sister, Sylvia Castillo, three grandchildren Darrell W. Barbosa Jr. (DJ), Dylan Barbosa and Hannah Barbosa. He leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, his wife Cynthia Barbosa of 42 years, three children, Roland Barbosa Jr., (Madisonville, TX.), Darrell Wayne Barbosa and wife Sara, (Groves, TX.) and Holly B. Ibeck and husband Jason, (Lumberton, TX.) He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Roland R. Barbosa III (Trey), Lannah, Daryn and Krissy Barbosa, Tyler and Tanner LeBlanc, Tyler and Megan Ibeck. Three brothers, Lionel and wife June Barbosa, (Port Arthur, TX.) Gabriel and wife Cristina Barbosa (Arlington, TX.) and Henry and wife Pam Barbosa (Port Arthur, TX.). He is also survived by a brother in law, Arthur Castillo and wife Anna (Houston, TX.) Serving as Pallbears are Jeff Bertrand, Troy Shiflet, John Boleyn Jr., John Barbosa, Brandon Barbosa, Joseph Barbosa, Christopher Castillo and Johnny Colunga. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan Ramirez and Jason Ibeck. He will be loved and missed by his whole family. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and uncle. We will all miss him dearly. Special thanks are given to the nurses of Southeast Texas Medical Center and the staff of Altus Hospice.
