Doris Jean Cook March 29, 1929 - October 8, 2012

Doris "Jean" Cook, 83 of Port Arthur, Texas passed on to be with Her Lord and Savior Monday, October 8, 2012 at her residence. Jean was born in Port Arthur on March 29, 1929 to Ruth Perkins and Willis Burton Owings. She was a life long resident of this area. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; a husband, Johnny B. Cook; brothers, Drennon Owings, William T. (Tommy) Owings, Willis B. (Bill) Owings and Huey Owings; sister, Gloria Mae Broussard; son, Jimmy Cook and grandson, Jamie Cook.. She is survived by her daughter, Jody Simmons and husband Dr. Derrick Simmons of Bridge City; Sons, Jerry Cook and wife Suzanne Cook of Orangefield, Jay Cook of Port Arthur; sister, Linda Foster and husband Gary Foster of Port Neches and Thelma Waters of Wilmington, North Carolina. Grandchildren, John Cook, Jacquelyn Oberle, Jhett Simmons and Jenna Cook. Great-grandchildren, Josephine Oberle and John Wayne Cook and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Memorial Service will be on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. in the Clayton Chapel of Clayton Thompson. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.
