Marvel Balsamo September 13, 1939 - December 10, 2012

Marvel C. Balsamo, 73, of Winnie, Texas passed away at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont on Monday, December 10, 2012 She was born on September 13, 1939 to Evelyn Thompson Collum and Alfred Bernard Collum in Oakdale, LA. Marvel has been a resident of Port Arthur for over 50 years. She worked as a bookkeeper. Marvel is survived by her loving husband, Russell E. Balsamo, Sr. of Winnie, Texas; her sons, Jean B. "Johnny" Arabie of Nederland, Texas, David G. Arabie of Austin, Texas; daughters, Naomi R. Arabie of Conroe, Texas and Angela R. Peltier of Fannett, Texas; stepsons, Russell E. Balsamo, Jr. of Argentina, Richard A. Balsamo of Port Arthur, Texas, Randy Balsamo of Fannett, Texas, Robert Balsamo of Pearland, Texas, Rodney Balsamo of Port Neches, Texas, Ronnie Balsamo of Groves, Texas; stepdaughters, Roxanne Ferguson of Port Neches, Texas, Christine Martin of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Sharron Hoelzer of Nederland, Texas; 22 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches on Friday, December 14, 2012 at 2 PM with Rev. Neil Arce, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM at the funeral home with a 6:30 PM rosary service. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Catholic Charities Hospitality Center. The family would like to give special thanks to Angel Home Health and LaTasha Simien.
