Danny James Babin, 63, of Groves, Texas passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. He was born on February 26, 1949 to Oline Castille Babin and Wallace Babin in Port Arthur, Texas. He has been a resident of Groves for most of his life. Danny worked as a purchasing agent for Drainage District #7 for numerous years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed and always remembered. Danny enjoyed the outdoor life including fishing, hunting and camping. With his love for the outdoors, he dedicated 30 years to our local Boy Scouts of Troop 86. Even though we are sad in our loss, we know that he is with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and in our hearts forever. "To The Bone" Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 14, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Kyler, officiating. Arrangement for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. He was preceded in death by his parents. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Marie Prince Babin of Groves, Texas, his daughters, Amy Babin Morris and husband Steve of Bedias, Texas, Amber Michelle Babin of Port Arthur, Texas, Amanda Danielle Athanasaw and husband Jerry of Groves, Texas, his nine grandchildren, Kristina Turner, Rock Morris, Greg Babin, Kyla Jobe (Athanasaw), Jewel Jackson, Logan Athanasaw, Jade Jackson, Ellie Athanasaw and Cobie Athanasaw, six great grandchildren, Linnia Turner, Ona Turner, Mia Turner, Ayden Babin and Nathan Babin. He is also survived by his brother, David Ralph Babin and wife Marsha of Pasadena, Texas along with several nieces and nephews.
