Gertrude Elizabeth Coats August 23, 1929 - February 28, 2013

Elizabeth Coats, 83 of Nederland passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Elizabeth was born in Houston, TX on October 23, 1929 to Gertrude Grinstead and Thomas Lynd and lived most of her life in the Golden Triangle area. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Thurman Coats. She is survived by her sons, Dale Fortune and wife Debbie of Port Neches, TX, Ray Coats of Port Acres, TX; daughters, Darlene and husband Roger Dickson of Port Acres, TX, Becky and husband Lee Bryant of Port Acres, TX; brother, Lawrence Lynd of Nederland, TX; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Memory Garden Cemetery.

May each of you find comfort knowing Liz has been guided gently home. When I read the obit in the paper this morning I remembered all the happy, fun times we had at your house when we were growing up. Liz made those times very special. She was always there for us. I can see the pink booties she gave Michelle the day Michelle was born. Liz will be put to rest on my birthday which is special for me. God bless and protect each of you.
