Mavis Lucille Corie September 18, 1932 - March 8, 2013

Mavis L. Corie age 80 of Nederland passed away on Friday March 8, 2013 at Gulf Health Care Center. She was born on September 18, 1932 in Anacoco, Louisiana to Lester and Lily Mitchell Reeks. She had been a resident of Nederland for the past 48 years. Mavis was a loving homemaker who enjoyed doing handwork, canning and yard work. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents and husband George R. Corie. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara and her husband Douglas Crain of Nederland, brother Arniel and wife Janice Reeks of Hornbeck, Louisiana, sister Gloria Owers of Groves, granddaughter Laura E. Crain of Orange and many Nieces and Nephews. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 10 ,2013 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Graveside Funeral Service will be on Monday, March 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at Gulf Healthcare for being so good to mom. Mavis also loved children very much.

Dear Aunt our lives will be forever changed with your passing the love you have shown will forever be felt ,aunt mavis word can not describe the bond that we had you taught me so much and were there for anything that myself or family and friends needed you were my aunt ,mother, and grandmother all rolled into one what an awesome gift you gave to me .Barbara thank you for sharing aunt mavis with us we love you and your family so much your cousin Jeannine .
