Herman Hayes Mendoza, Sr. January 1, 1938 - July 11, 2013

Herman Hayes Mendoza, Sr., 75, of Groves, TX passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013. He was born on January 1, 1938 in Crowley, LA. to Enick Mendoza and Nora Cormier. He worked for Texaco Refinery for 42 years and was a member of the OCAW. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends and was a member of the Salt Bayou Hunting Club for 40 years and president of the Neches River Sportsman Club for 35 years. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Peter Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter Catholic Church with burial to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Hayes is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlene Mendoza of Groves, TX., a sister Dean Comeaux of Crowley, LA., three sons, Jay Mendoza and wife Kay of Nederland,TX., Gary Mendoza and wife Darla of Spring, TX., and Johnny Mendoza and wife Marina of Groves, TX. Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. Hayes was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jackie Mendoza.

My deepest sympathy and prayers are with the Mendoza family. I worked with Hayes at Texaco in the late 1950's and sixties. He was a great friend, fellow worker and always was there to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed not only by family but by all who knew him.
