Maurice Reed, 90, beloved Mother, Grandma and Aunt of Groves died Thursday July 25th at Harbor Hospice House. Maurice was born on March 25, 1923 in Nacogdoches County to Carroll Whitton and Martha Dean Whitton. She was a resident of Groves for 67 years and was a retired beautician after 28 years of service. She was a member of Val Verde Baptist Church and a member of the Groves Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her son, Kenneth Reed and wife Debbie of Brookeland, Texas, her daughter, Kay Reed of Groves, her grandson, Michael "Ty" Reed and wife Heather of Houston, Texas, nephew, Steve Reed and wife Robbie of Groves, and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 3 PM to 6 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 28, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with her grandson, Rev. Michael "Ty" Reed and Rev. Rick Koonce, officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Special thanks to Intrepid Home Health and Harbor Hospice House for their loving care.
