A Life Remembered

Obituary

Adrian David Evans July 19, 1919 - August 19, 2013

Adrian David Evans, 94, of Port Neches entered into eternal rest August 19, 2013 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born in Rusk, Texas and lived his first year in Gallatin, Texas before moving to Port Arthur. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson he attended Texas A&M University until the outbreak of WW II. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps and fought in North Africa and in Europe until the end of the war. After returning home he met the love of his life, Gloria Byrns, the former Miss Texas 1940-41. He went back to A&M and earned a degree in Petroleum Engineering. He then went to work at the Gulf Refinery in Port Arthur where he worked for 35 years except for 11 years of which were in Cincinnati, Ohio. Through the years he became an avid clock collector and was know as the "Clock Man". At one time he had over two hundred. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Gloria Evans; his son, Randy and his granddaughter, Tonya Hanley. He is survived by Dr. Steve Evans and wife Terry of Roswell, New Mexico, Barbara Hanley and husband Leonard of Nederland and Candi Haynie and husband Mike of Shreveport, Louisiana, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a devoted member of the Nederland Ave. Church of Christ at the time of his death and had served as a deacon and teacher at several Churches of Christ prior to this. We would like to remember and thank so much our wonderful caregivers, Liz, Dana, Sandra, Kayla and April. They took him anywhere he wanted to go anytime and he loved them all. He will be remembered as a wonderful christian example to his children and grandchildren.

Steve, Barbara and Candi, Adrian and Gloria were two of our favorite people. He was so handsome and Gloria was so beautiful. We have missed her and we will miss him as well. Since we have moved to East Texas, we have not gotten to visit very much but we loved them both.We offer our heartfelt sympathy.
