Robert Greig Placette

Robert "Greig" Placette December 14, 1948 - August 26, 2013 Greig Placette age 64 from Katy, Texas and a native of Port Arthur, Texas courageously died Monday, August 26, 2013. Greig graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1967 and a Business Graduate from Lamar University. He was President and owner of Houston General Trading Company and an active member of numerous business organizations and politically involved in the Houston area. He generously volunteered his time to local charities. Greig is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Gloria Placette. He is survived by his son, Drue Placette and his wife Jessica of San Marcus and four grandchildren, Payten, Sean, Liam and Julia; two sisters, Theresa (Placette) Kleypas and husband Ricky of Nederland and Renee Placette of Jacksonville, Florida. A visitation will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm with a Vigil at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Officiating at the services is his first cousin Rev. David Placette; Rev. Msgr. Bennie Pattilo will be co-celebrating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. I worked with Greig many years ago in Houston and have always remembered him for his kind nature. His death is tragic. I extend deepest sympathy to Greg's loved ones.

Oh I am so, so sorry. I just received a call from a friend in Houston who told me of the news. My husband, Joe, and I met Greig when Joe was pitching for the Houston Astros. We became good friends and shared so many wonderful, fun times. I have precious memories of Greig...what a sense of humor he had! And such a kind and generous spirit. So, so sad to learn of Greig's passing. He is a true hero in so many ways.

Greig was wonderful in so many ways. He had a vision for his company and we were working hard towards his goals. Greig had a good sense of humor. I enjoyed working with him for the short 9 months I have known him. I wish it had been longer. I am going to miss his voice, his follow ups and the time of putting work aside and getting to know him better. Thank you Greig. Thank you so much. I miss you now.

I can't begin to describe my shock and dismay. Greig, Drue and family are in our prayers. Greig has always had a big heart and giving nature towards others so his immediate response to help were in his nature. May God bless him for his selfless act to protest others.
