Jake Everett Kelley January 5, 1930 - September 3, 2013

Jake Everett Kelley, 83, of Groves, passed away at Gulf Rehab on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. He was born in Port Arthur on January 5, 1930 to Everett Ranson Kelley and Mattie Ydette Anderson. He retired from Texaco Inc. after 43 years of service as a Machinist Supervisor. Jake was a member of Port Arthur Masonic Lodge #1264 A.F. & A.M. In his early years, Jake's hobbies included duck hunting with his long-time friend JP Wells and restoring old things, especially a 1951 Ford pickup. Jake liked Nascar and at one time he raced go-carts on Pleasure Island. He enjoyed many years at his lake house in Toledo Bend. Jake is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Maude" Arnaud Kelley. His children, Karen Kelley, Diana Hall (Tony), Kathy LeBlanc (Tim), Phil Kelley (Sheryl), Phyllis Barras (Ronnie), Felecia Brodnax (Billy), and Jervis Kelley (Jeri). His grandchildren, Brice Hall, Laura Manrique, Lisa Trevino, Angela Manganice, Jason Kelley, Justin Kelley, Jennifer Simerly, Katie Montalvo, Julie Barras, Kelley Trahan, Kristin Kelley, Ryan Kelley, Tessa Smulcer, Derek Brodnax, Blaine Franz and Sherri Potter, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy L. Kelley of Crockett and his sisters-in-law, Wilma Clause and Jean Ann Jorgensen, along with numerous caring nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10 PM in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project or your favorite charity would be greatly appreciated.
