Bertie Deree Olson April 27, 1922 - October 5, 2013

Bertie "Deree" Olson, 91, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family at her home on Saturday, October 5, 2013. She was born on April 27, 1922 to Clara Phillips Coleman and Albert Coleman in Bratt, Florida. She was a resident of the area for most of her life. Deree was a homemaker and a former member of St. Johns American Lutheran Church and current member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Groves Visitation will be on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Hund, Travis Stewart, Clyde Gauthier, Jr., Michael Evans, Maxielynn Buchanan, Jr. and Ricky McAnally. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Orrin C. Olson. Deree is survived by her son, Randy M. Olson and wife Karen of Scottsville, Virginia, daughter, Renee Buchanan of Port Arthur, Texas, Grandchildren, Michael Evans, Maxielynn Buchanan and wife Kelli, Roxanne Gauthier and husband Clyde J. Jr., Jessica Olson, Maelynn Buchanan, great grandchildren, Lily Evans, Holly Evans, Maxielynn Buchanan III, Kaiden Holt Buchanan, Clyde Joseph Gauthier III, Abigail Renee Gauthier, Nieces, Pam Hund and husband Kenneth, Deree Owings, great niece, Angelique McAnally and husband Ricky.

Mom and I are so sorry for your loss. We remember both Deree and Orrin fondly. Mom tells me stories of them often, about things they did together when she was growing up. We both found the news extremely sad. We miss the days we all shared stories together at Grandma and Grandpa Olson's place.
