Francis Jay Vanhess January 30, 1926 - October 14, 2013

Francis VanHess, 87, of Port Arthur, Passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont. Born on January 30th, 1926 in Many, LA, Francis was the son of Annie Dekyzer and John Carl VanHess. He retired from Texaco after serving 38 years as an Instrument Supervisor. Francis is preceded in death by his parents, a wife, Mildred Ruth VanHess, two brothers, Robert and Richard VanHess and a sister, Virginia Tomlinson. Those left to cherish him is his son, Roy VanHess and wife, Nora, of Bridge City; daughter, Karen Sue Rasa and husband, Jim, of Groves; sister, Clara Somerville and husband, Johnny, of Port Arthur; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena in Port Arthur with Rev. David Placette officiating. Visitation with family and friends will be Thursday, October 17, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m.

My prayers and sympathy goes out to the Vanhess family. I worked with Van at Texaco Instrument Dept. during the late fifties to the early seventies. He was a friend both at the work place and off. He always had a smile and a good word along with a strong handshake. He will be missed by all who knew him.
