Rebecca Leon Galvan October 3, 1925 - October 20, 2013

Rebecca Leon Galvan, 88, of Groves, Texas passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at her home. She was born in Orange, Texas on October 3, 1925 to Salvador and Margarita Leon. Rebecca was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She worked at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Housekeeping for 20 years and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Galvan, Sr., brother, Frank Leon and sister, Rachel Savarino and husband J. P. Savarino and her son-in-law, Harold Guidry. Rebecca is survived by her brother, Arthur Leon and wife Carmen of Port Arthur, Texas, sister-in-law, Rebbcca Leon of Port Arthur, Texas, three daughters, Christina Guidry of Austin, Texas, Rachel Cormier of Groves, Texas, Martha Alsop and husband Mark of Clear Lake, Texas, two sons, Manuel Galvan, Jr. and wife Sandy of Port Acres, Texas, Robert Galvan and wife Shari of Groves, Texas, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild along with numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Rev. Urbano R. Saenz will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens. The family would like to give a special thanks to Odyssey Hospice in Beaumont.
