Rita Margaret Brehmer November 4, 1925 - October 25, 2013

Rita Brehmer, 87, of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur. Rita was born in Brooklyn, New York on November 4, 1925 to Elizabeth Boylan and Thomas Maher. She lived 53 years in Port Arthur and was very active in community organizations such as The Red Cross, Port Arthur Garden Club, PEO organization, Griffin Park Crime Patrol, Gray Ladies at St. Mary's Hospital. and she was also a dedicated Elder in the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. In 1998 Rita was preceded in death by her husband John Douglas Brehmer. She is survived by her Daughters, Bonnie Bell Woodrow (Gary) of Katy, TX, Jeri Hays of Port Arthur; 3 grandchildren, Lara Bell Milam,(Brent) Houston, Peter Jeffery Bell, Katy, and Britney Rochelle Smith. Austin, and 4 Great Grandchildren, Hunter Jeffery Bell, Bailey Ann Bell, Dylan Michelle Milam, Brooks Andrew Milam and Great Niece Nancy Burns. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, Groves, Texas. In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in Rita's memory to the community organizations she was associated with as well as ALTUS Hospice.

I loved Mrs. Brehmer like a second Mom. She was a wonderful, beautiful, poised woman , that always made you feel welcomed , whenever you visited with her. She will be greatly missed and thought of lovingly. God has truly called an " angel " home. For her family, my prayers are with you all. I know you all loved her very much... God Bless ...
