Margaret M Parent March 24, 1918 - November 5, 2013

Margaret M. Parent, age 95 of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Cypress Glenn East in Port Arthur, TX. She was born on March 24, 1918 in Jeanerette, LA. to William and Euphemie Broussard Bonin. Margaret was a resident of the Port Arthur/ Groves area for over 70 years. Margaret was a graduate of Jeanerette High School and continued her education to obtain a LVN license where she worked at Mid-Jefferson Hospital. During WWII she was employed at Standard Brass as a key punch operator for 5 years and she was director of Religious Education (DRE) at St. James Catholic Church at which time Margaret earned a Master of Theology degree and the Bishop's Medal from the Catholic Diocese of Beaumont. Visitation will be on Friday, November 8, 2013 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church, 3617 Gulfway Drive Port Arthur with internment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and husband Fred Parent. She is survived by her son, Fred and his wife Kathy Parent of Groves, daughters, Patricia Creed and Susan and her husband Mike Felix both of Port Neches. Brother, Col. Louis Bonin (Ret.) of Fort Collins, CO., sister, Evelyn Duhon of Lafayette, LA. grandchildren, Jim and Shelia Parent, Michelle Needham, Jamie Lefort, Chrissy Lang, Jennifer Simpson and Lindsey Pino, and 16 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Cypress Glenn East and the staff for the loving care of their mother.

Mrs. Parent was such a special person. How well I remember our years at St. James, CCd and how my kids all admired and respected her. Especially Jenny and Cathy and her son Frank.
