Francis Miller February 24, 1926 - November 24, 2013

Francis Miller, 87, of Port Arthur, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2013 at his home. Born on February 24, 1926 in Arnaudville, Louisiana to Cleopha and Agatha Thibodeaux Miller. After graduation from Cecilia High School, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served his country during the second world war. He came to Port Arthur in 1952 to work for Texaco from which he retired with 35 years of service. He and his wife were charter members of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3491 in Groves, church ministry and had been active in the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joseph and Walter Lee Miller, sister LeeAnna Crochet, brothers-in-law L. J. Crochet, Malcohm Caillier and Leroy Trahan, Niece Bonnie Crochet. Those who will most cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Marella, his sons James and wife Suzanne of Orange, Errol and wife Jan of Bridge City, his daughter, Janice of Houston, grandchildren Jason Miller and wife Courtney of Beaumont, Jody Miller and wife Lori of Mauriceville, Amy Everman and husband Zak of Baton Rouge, La. , Eric Miller and Rachel Miller both of Houston, great grandchildren Bennett Everman, Stella Miller, Paityn and Breana and in January Griffin Francis-James Everman. His brothers, Pat Miller of Breaux Bridge, La. and Ernest Miller of Houma, La., his sister, Una Trahan of New Iberia, La. and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2013 with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM by the Knights of Columbus at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church with Rev. David Placette, serving as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Jody Miller, Eric Miller, Jason Miller, Pat Miller, Ernest Miller, Zak Everman, Larry Triebel and Dickie Richard. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society. The family would like thank the nurses and staff of Home Health Care and Altus Hospice and Dr. James Shepherd and staff, as well as our family and loyal friends. He was the patriarch and heart and soul of our family.
