Arnold Albert Lee March 3, 1926 - November 25, 2013

Arnold Albert Lee, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away at Mid Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Nederland on Monday, November 25, 2013. He was born on March 3, 1926 to Mary Jackson Lee and Edward Lee in DeQuincy, Louisiana. Arnold was a lifelong resident of the area. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict as a member of the elite Seals Team. Arnold earned his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from Lamar University in Beaumont. He was affiliated with several organizations, American Red Cross, Campfire Girls, Lamar University Alumni Association, Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission, Groves National Little League, Texas Society of Professional Engineers, Alpha Pi Mu Engineering Honor Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4820. Among the many public offices that Arnold held are Mayor, City of Groves, Chairman of Groves Tax Equalization Board, Member of Groves Adjustment and Appeals Board, Member of the Original Port Arthur Seawall Committee. He was honored as the first "Mr. Groves" in 1970. Arnold was a member of the United Methodist Temple. He retired from Texaco as a Civil Engineer after 39 years of service. Visitation will be on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 10:00 AM to Noon at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Friday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Kristian Dugas, Mitchell Lee, Joe Mosier, Mark Stelly, Cecil Bourgeois and Brian Dugas. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Beverly Alsbrooks Lee of Groves, his daughters, Rhonda Mosier and husband Joe of Houston, Gina Stelly and husband Mark of Port Arthur, his son, Barton Lee and wife Terri of Round Rock, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Uncle Arnold was a wonderful person and he will be missed dearly. Had a lot of memories visiting with them when we were younger....Holidays were always a good time of the year spent a lot of time with him and his family ....Uncle Arnold can now be with My Mom,as well as His other siblings...love them all and our thoughts and prayers are with all of yall....
