Obituary

John Benjamin Lane January 6, 1931 - January 17, 2014

John (Johnny) B. Lane, 83, of Port Arthur, Texas, formally of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away at SETMC on Friday, January 17, 2014. John proudly served his country both in the Navy and Marine Corp. from 1948 through 1956. He was a charter member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion Post 7 in Port Arthur. He was a retired member of the Plumbers and Pipefitter Union 286 out of Austin, Texas, just receiving his fifty-five year certificate and pin. John loved to fish and hunt but his greatest love was his family. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ward Lane; daughter, Paula Wear and husband James; sons, John (Bud) Lane, Jr. and his wife Bryanette, James Lane and wife Darla, all of Andice, Texas; step-daughter, Stacie Crochet of Round Rock, Texas; step-son, Greg Crochet and wife Julie of Porter, Texas; brother, Rex Lane and wife Nancy of Liberty Hill, Texas; seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on January 26, 2014 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home at 1:00 PM. Officiating will be Roger Ward. An additional memorial service will be held in Andice, Texas at a date yet undetermined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars.
