Robert "Bobby" Ian Breaux January 1, 1956 - January 28, 2014

Robert Ian "Bobby" Breaux (58) of Costa Mesa, California, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, California. A native of Port Arthur, Texas, Bobby was born on New Year's Day, 1956, to Molly and Joseph "Bigger" Breaux. He spent his childhood years in Port Arthur, and then lived in Southern California for nearly 30 years which served Bobby's easy-going lifestyle. Good-natured, charming, supportive, and loving are a few of many ways to describe him. With his father's love of sports and passion for baseball, Bobby grew up playing various sports from Little League to becoming a running back and letterman in football for the Yellow Jackets at Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur. Bobby attended all Port Arthur grade schools. He began his grammar school years at St. Joseph Catholic School, junior high years at Woodrow Wilson and Thomas Edison, and then graduated high school from TJ, Class of 1975. After marrying Dora Kay Richard in 1978, he later graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, with a B.S. in Industrial Technology (Industrial Engineering) and an A.A.S. in Management. Bobby worked for N. L. Shaffer in Beaumont before being transferred by the company to Southern California. He later changed jobs and worked for Compositek Corporation in Brea, California, currently known as Encore Composite Structures, Inc. Over the years, Bobby traveled throughout the United States and overseas for the company. His former position was Director of Marketing. Additionally, Bobby was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Placentia, California and also volunteered his time in other charitable projects including the Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops between California and Texas. Traits of civility and steadfastness came from his parents, especially his mother with roots from Ipswich, England. Bobby learned carpentry skills and attained jack-of-all-trades abilities from his father with roots from Houma, Louisiana. As an older brother and role model, he shared a strong bond with his brother Jody. His lifelong love and devotion to his parents and brother naturally carried over to his own children, Christopher, Eleni and John "Yonny". Bobby's love and devotion to family was the center of his entire life. Through the years Bobby enjoyed various outdoor activities. These activities included hunting, fishing, skate boarding, scuba diving (NAUI certified), snow skiing, water skiing, jet skiing, knee boarding, attending air shows and spending time outdoors with friends and family. He especially loved surfing from the Gulf Coast, Palm Coast, North Carolina Coast and Pacific Coast with his surfer buddies. Bobby is survived by his three naturally-born children, Christopher Breaux of Seoul, South Korea, Eleni Breaux and John Breaux of San Marcos, Texas, parents, Joseph and Molly Breaux of Nederland, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Jody and Kandace Breaux and nephew, Bryce Breaux of Nederland, Texas, uncle and aunt, Ron and Doris Dorrell of Ipswich, England, cousins Mark and Perry Dorrell and their families of Ipswich, England and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Leon and Ann Lea Breaux, May and Ian Dorrell, uncle Robert Leon Jr. and aunt Dorothy Rita Breaux, aunt Evonne Powell and uncle, Dick Powell, step-uncle Claude "PawPaw" Moore, step-aunt Leona Hebert and other relatives. A sincere and special thank you is offered to Bobby's close friend and longtime girlfriend, Karen Wright, of Riverside, California, for her immeasurable support and assistance during and after the final days of Bobby's life. She has truly been a blessing. The family thanks the staff at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside, California, for the special care they provided. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, with a Rosary service beginning 6 p.m. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39th Street, Groves, Texas. To the family and friends of Bobby, Although is has been decades since we last spoke, the news of your passing brought back a flood of memories - working together at N.L. Industries, playing softball for the company team, water-skiing on the Neches, the list goes on...You were an early mentor to me and taught me the meaning of true friendship and being true to a set of values. I grieve for your family's loss and for my loss. - Zack Rivette
