Dorothy Ozella Nicholls Hammond Dorothy Ozella Nicholls Hammond, 88, of Houston and formerly of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at her home in Houston. She was born on April 2, 1926 to Willie Rush Nicholls and Albert Nicholls in Birmingham, Alabama. She has been a resident of Port Arthur for most of her life before moving to Houston 19 years ago. Dorothy graduated from Thomas Jefferson and completed a drafting program at Texas A&M. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Aldersgate Trinity United Methodist Church (United Methodist Temple). Visitation will be on Sunday, April 6, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 7, 2014 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, William "Bill" and Albert Nicholls and her husband, Charles Hammond. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Gail Hammond of Houston, Texas, Nancy Hammond Ramirez and husband, Louis of Groves, Texas, Susan Hammond Robertson and husband, Pat of Houston, Texas, Cindy Hammond Powell and husband, Roger of Nederland, grandchildren, Stephanie Powell, James Hammond, Christine Boone and her niece, Pattie Nicholls.
