Alice Hernandez September 12, 1928 - April 12, 2014

Alice Hernandez, 85 of Groves passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur. Alice was born in Port Arthur, TX on September 12, 1928 to Dolores Alvarez and Manuel Vara and lived most of her life in the Golden Triangle area. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Hernandez and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Emilia Ybarra of Groves, TX, Elizabeth Gunner of Odessa, TX; brother, Oscar Vara of Winnie, TX; sisters, Rosa Venegas of Groves, TX and Toni Guerrero of Las Vegas, NV; 4 grandchildren, Fernando Polanco IV, Jessica Boslooper, Frank Tatroe, Marc Gunner and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a vigil at 5:30 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Memory Garden Cemetery. Thanks to family and friends and Compassion Hospice and St. Mary staff.

Even though we had not seen Aunt Alice and the extended family members in Texas for years, we did manage to talk from time to time. Aunt Alice was always kind and loving whenever we visited her house, as well as my other Aunts & Uncles there in the area, and we will never forget that. Love and Condolences to all from the Guerrero & Chauvin families.
