Walter Duda December 12, 1927 - April 14, 2014

Walter Duda, 86, of LaBelle passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born on December 12, 1927 to Anna Stankiewize Duda and Frank Duda, Sr. in Pennsylvania. Walter has been a resident of the area since 1960. He began his carreer as a Merchant Marine at the age of 17 and retired as chief electrician after 37 years. Walter served in the U. S. Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Visitation will be on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2014 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Etombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Joe and Frank, Jr., his sister, Helen Kubinez and his loving wife, Lola Rene Powers Duda. Walter is survived by his two sons, Joseph E. Burger of Longview, Texas and Merel Wayman and his wife, Janice of Burkeville, Texas, his daughter, Lyda Edwards and her husband, Sam of Toledo Bend, Texas, his eight grandchildren, Judy Dunlap, James Wayman, William Burger, Marla Keck, Gary Marshall, Todd Marshall, Jacob Edwards and Leslie Edwards along with 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

ohh Pawpaw Walter how you will be missed...I know you and Granny are now smiling down upon us.. I can picture her now giving you a hard time the minute you walked through those Pearly Gates... I can hear you sayin ohhh "momma" how I will miss hearing that and i will miss you always knowing my voice when i called... Until we meet again Pawpaw kleep smiling down on us.. We love you so very much.. Give our lady big a big ole hug and kiss!

So sorry to hear about Mr. Walter. Mr. Walter was my neighbor in LaBelle and everyone is going to miss him. He was a sweet person to be around.
