Mark S. Simon December 28, 1957 - April 23, 2014

Mark S. Simon, 56, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. He was born on December 28, 1957 to Lou Hillburn Simon and Dee Simon in Port Arthur, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. Mark graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1976 and Lamar University with a degree in Finance in 1989. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict and reached the rank of Sargeant. Mark owned and operated Mark Simon- State Farm Insurance Agency for over 25 years, he took over the business after the passing of his father, Dee Simon. He was affiliated with St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Groves. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Inurnment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park at a later date. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves. He was preceded in death by his father, Dee Simon. Mark is survived by his son, Jason Simon (Kimberly Watts) of Beaumont, Texas, his daughters, Jennifer Simon of Nederland, Texas, Angel Simon of Groves, Texas, his mother and step-father, Lou and Barry Jackson of Groves, Texas, his sisters, Kathy Ricks of Humble, Texas, Debbie Williams (Dick) of Cypress, Texas, Cindy Simon of Groves, Texas, Michelle Williams (Eldon) of Groves, Texas, his brother, Robert Simon (Debra) of Cedar Creek, Texas, his step-sisters, Gail Melancon (Richard) of Groves, Texas, Janelle Hunter (Jimmy) of Batson, Texas, Angela Stansbury of Nederland, Texas, Melanie Roberts (Daniel) of Port Neches, Texas, his step-brothers, Wayne Jackson of Groves, Texas, Bryan Jackson of Groves, Texas, his grandchildren, Michael Simon, Noah Simon and Christopher Simon and a special lady, Helen Hake , who took care of Mark thru many dark days, numerous nieces and nephews.
