I was another Blessed with the privilege to play in Jerry's band in '68...Which he called, "Thirteen Pieces of Sugar Coated Soul". I played tenor sax. His talented gift of music was awesome. These few months were some of my favorite times ever. My thoughts and prayers for Julian and Jerry's sons and families.

I was lucky to get to play in one of Jerry's short-lived bands - "13 Pieces of Sugar-Coated Soul". It was 1968. Most folks never heard of it. He could do it all: lead singer/arranger, sax, and organizer. It was a great experience. Rock, jazz, pop, and blue-eyed soul - he was into all of it. He will be missed.

I met Jerry at the Care Center where we were both residents. We would set daily talking about family and his passion for music. Even though I was 20 years older than him we would talk about how much we had in common. I'd sing a few words of a song and Jerry would finish it out. Him being unable to see we would set outside listening to birds and the winds as I described the colors Jerry would name the species. I was the last person to hear him perform. It was my birthday, he got up to the piano and started slamming the keys rocking his head side to side while stomping his foot. Singing loud a song that he wrote but never recorded followed by happy birthday to me. What a treat! So little time but so many memories. Jerry I can truly say you were my best friend that i will never forget. I miss and love you. Oneida

Like so many others, I grew up watching Jerry LaCroix rock the house all over the area. One of my all time favorite music memories was seeing Jerry tear it up with White Trash at the Pelican. Thanks "Count"

Man that Cat could sing! AND blow Sax. He has now joined that Celestial Group. Jerry and his music remains indelible. Seeing him at the Big Oaks in the early 60's was like Bobby 'Blue Bland' Turn On Your Love Light, St.James Infirmary, Don't Cry No More. We were blessed with some of the best music on the Planet and Jerry was at the top. He was a great guy. RIP- Jerry Count Jackson, the man who brought us Sandra Pool.

I was privileged to play with two bands with Jerry in the the 60's. Jerry's talent as an entertainer and performer was surpassed only by his talents as musician and arranger. His patience with those whose gifts were less than his will be forever appreciated and remembered.
