Darrell Wayne DeCluitt June 28, 1938 - May 17, 2014

Darrell Wayne DeCluitt, 75, of Port Arthur passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was born on June 28, 1938 to Samuel and Margie DeCluitt. Darrell went to Thomas Jefferson High School and graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He served in the United States Navy for 4 years and retired from Neches Butane after 38 years. He was married to Becky Hebert DeCluitt and leaves behind his children, Michael Wayne DeCluitt, Dana DeCluitt Lumpkin and three grandchildren, Lauren Paige Jackson, Ethan Douglas DeCluitt and Elizabeth DeCluitt. He also leaves behind a brother, Douglas DeCluitt and a nephew, Chris DeCluitt and niece, Sherry Nunley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Waddell. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a funeral service at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors in Groves.

I knew Darrell through my freindship with his son Mike who I attended high school & college with. He was an interesting and knowledgeable man. You always knew where Darrell stood after speaking with him. He was friendly and outgoing and always made me feel welcome. I'm sure that is how he treated everyone. My best to all the DeCluitt's and while I know this is a sad time I will recall Darrell fondly.
