A Life Remembered

Obituary

Kenneth Paul Theriot December 8, 1939 - May 20, 2014

Kenneth Paul Theriot, 74, of La Porte, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 8, 1939 to Joseph Clyde Theriot and Rose Mae (Viator) Theriot. After graduating Stephen F. Austin High School in 1959 he served in the Army National Guard of Texas from 1957 until 1964. Kenneth was a retired insulator of 56 years and a proud member of Local 22 of Deer Park, Texas. He was a dedicated family man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, zydeco music and cooking at family gatherings. After building his family a home, Ken enjoyed long days grooming his immaculate yard and garden. Ken was always known for sharing his fresh vegetables and homemade wine. He was a proud man that loved to have family and friends around. Ken was considered a Pro' Washer Player and often held friendly tournaments to prove he could not be beaten (except by his daughter). Ken was also known for his artistry and ability to fix anything. His motto was to not spend your hard-working money on new when you could fix the old and used. Nothing was ever to be thrown out, instead recycled or given away. Although gone from this earth today he will live on in our hearts forever. He is survived by his first love and mother of his children, Sandra Alm of Cypress, TX.; Love of his life, Jo Ann Johnson (Theriot) of Cypress, TX.; Daughter, Stacey Theriot McNeely and husband Steve McNeely of Cypress, TX.; grandchildren, Jareka Anderson and husband Jake Anderson of Ennis, TX., Zachary Townsell and Adam Townsell of Cypress TX.; great grandchildren, Harlyn Faulk and Audrey Anderson; Sister Mary Ann Wheatley of Bridge City, TX.; brother Charles Theriot of Fred, TX.; sister-in-laws, Cindy Theriot of Sealy, TX.; Dorothy Theriot of Johnson City, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Theriot; son La Monte Theriot; brothers, Gene Theriot and Thomas Theriot; brother in-law-Chuck Wheatley; sister-in-law, Carol Theriot. Visitation will be on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.

Daddy - Oh how I miss you already. You are an amazing man that I am honored to call you 'My Dad.' I know these last few years were not what you wanted BUT I bet your dancing now! Don't worry you left me in great hands and taught me well. I love you Daddy until we meet again!
