A Life Remembered

Obituary

Luther "Bart" Bartlett October 21, 1969 - May 27, 2014

October 21, 1969-May 27, 2014 Bart passed away after a short illness on May 27, 2014. He was born in Port Arthur on October 21, 1969, to Melvin and Barbara Bartlett. He attended school in Nederland and graduated from Nederland High School in 1988. He worked as a carpenter before becoming an engineer with the Union Pacific Railroad. He recently graduated from LIT with a certification in HVAC. Innumerable friends knew Bart as a caring, giving person who never met a stranger. He loved life and most often was the life of the party with his infectious laugh and ready sense of humor. He had a carefree spirit and usually saw the best in every one and every thing. He was very family oriented and loved being surrounded with friends and family and loved all occasions that called for large celebrations with those he loved. He was also generous with his time and ready to help any one who needed him. His passions were the Dallas Cowboys, going to the beach, hunting, crabbing, and his beloved dog Daisy. He is survived by his parents, Melvin and Barbara Bartlett of Port Arthur, his step-daughter, Kayla Broussard of College Station, two sisters, Rhonda Gaspard and husband Nelson of Port Arthur and Leigh Alayne Singleton and husband Paul of Alvin, nieces and nephews Jay Gaspard of Nashville, Jennifer Taylor and husband Michael of New Braunfels, Kevin Gaspard of Port Arthur, Shawn Porter and wife Pam of Friendswood, Courtney Porter and fiancé Bryan Phillips of Alvin, and Crystal Porter of Alvin, great-niece Alice Porter of Friendswood, great nephew Kaelin Taylor of New Braunfels, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and vast a array of the best, most loyal friends anyone could ever hope for. All his friends and family will sorely miss him. Although his passing leaves a huge void in all our lives that can never be filled, we are comforted to know that he was a Christian and has now gone to be with his Lord and Savior. Visitation for friends and family will be Friday, May 30, from 5:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday. After which, following Bart's wishes, he will be cremated. Services will be handled by Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, TX.

Our hearts are broken with the loss of our "adopted"son Bart. He brought such joy and laughter into our lives. Our farm and the hunting is just a place it is people like Bart that made this a happy home to share with our loved ones. His laughter and smile would light up our lives. He just knew how to make you feel good. We have great memories of him, and all the funny things he did when he came to hunt or just kick back and relax around the fire. There is no way to express our sadness for you'll and all of us who loved him dearly. With our love, we are also praying for you to have strength. May you be blessed with the blessings and peace from the Lord. This next opening of deer season won't be the same without Bart. With the attitude Bart had, we know we have to enjoy each day to the fulless. He helped us know to enjoy the hour. This was his second home. With our love, J.P.
