Manuel Ruben Orta, Sr.
December 9, 1935 - July 31, 2014
Manuel Orta, Sr. of Groves passed away at his residence on July 31, 2014.Manuel was born in Port Arthur on December 9, 1935 to Anna Maria Collazo and Domingo Orta. He was a Supervisor for Great Lakes Carbon for 35 years. Manuel was of the Catholic faith. Manuel proudly served his country in the United States Army. Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Anna Maria Garcia Orta; brothers, Efrain Orta, Gonzalo Orta, David Orta and Leonardo Orta. He is survived by his wife, Elda Oyervides Orta of Groves, TX; daughters, Carmen Blanton of Port Arthur, TX, Maria Morrell of Groves, TX, Elizabeth Reiter of Willis, TX, Elda Orta of Groves, TX; sons, Henry Orta of Groves, TX, Ricky Orta of Katy, TX, Manuel Orta, Jr. of Groves, TX Gabriel Orta of Friendswood, TX; sister, Carmen Orta Pina of Port Arthur, TX; brothers, Raul Orta of Nederland, TX, Jose Orta of Port Arthur, TX; 27 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 3, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with a rosary prayed at 6:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 3648 S/Sgt. Lucian Adams Drive, Port Arthur with Rev. T.R. Blanco officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Special thanks to Harbor Hospice and Cathy Gohlke for all their help and support.
