Harriet Elizabeth Currie July 4, 1919 - January 16, 2015

Harriet Elizabeth Spivey Currie The frail body of Harriet Elizabeth Spivey Currie joined her mind & spirit in the arms of God on January 16, 2015. Born on July 4, 1919 she had resided at Lake Arthur Place Nursing & Rehabilitation Facility in Port Arthur, Texas for over 2 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, L. W. Currie, Jr. in 2002, her parents K. L. & Mary Spivey; her brothers Creighton Spivey, Lofton Spivey, Jack Spivey; and her sisters Floy Mauboules & Ever Spivey. She is survived by her son John Currie (Nancy) and grandson Eric Currie (Jacqui) and great grandsons Caleb & Joshua Currie, all of Port Neches. One brother Harold Spivey of Bangs, Texas and several Nieces, Nephews and a God Daughter, Patty Lowrey of Corpus Christi. She leaves behind many friends to cherish her memory as she lived all over the world in her travels with her husband's work and was one who never met a stranger but became an enduring friend to all who knew her. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Port Neches. Dr. Clay Faulk, pastor of Providence Church of Southeast Texas will conduct a service to celebrate her life at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM preceding the service. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Park. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to the Senior Care Programs at First Baptist Church of Port Neches, Texas. The family also acknowledges with grateful appreciation the conscientious & caring staff of Lake Arthur Place & Gentiva Hospice.
