Abelardo Hernandez July 16, 1932 - January 17, 2015

Our husband and father Abelardo "Abel" Hernandez, 82 of Nederland, TX was called home to our Lord on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas. Abel was born on July 16, 1932 to Jose C. and Francisca Sanchez Hernandez in Chicago, IL. He was a 40 year resident of the Nederland area. Abel was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, the Knights of Columbus. Abel was a avid member of the YMCA. His greatest passion was spending time with his family, especially his grand children and great grandchildren. Abel is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert "Bobby" Hernandez, sisters, Estela Allande and Linda Martinez. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hernandez, sons, Richard G Hernandez and wife Ismo of Eagle Pass and Daniel R. Hernandez and wife Tonie of Nederland, brother, Javier Hernandez of Los Angeles, CA, sister Ginger and husband, Ed Buneo of Laredo, TX,7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M. with internment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
