Emily W. Guidry, 93, of Groves, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at her daughter's home in Austin. She was born in Leonville, Louisiana on March 23, 1922 to Rita Emon Woodson and Carlos Woodson. She has been a resident of the area since 1947. Emily was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves and the Senior Club at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Velma Marcotte, Bertha Woodson, Ewell Woodson, Mason Woodson, Howard Woodson and Carlos Woodson, Jr. and her husband, Joseph Karl Guidry. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Martin and her husband, Tommy of Austin, her grandson, Alex Jacob "Jake" Martin and his wife, Stephanie of Austin, her great grandson, Cohen Reed Martin of Austin. She is also survived by her sisters, Lilly Taylor of Big Cane, Louisiana and Rita Mae "Chick" Darby of Arnaudville, Louisiana, her brother-in-law, Howard Guidry of Abbeville, Louisiana, sister-in-law, Pearl Parsons of Denver, Colorado along with her cousin/sister, Arthurine Bourque of Port Arthur, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Friday, May 1, 2015 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 PM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.
